CANYON HOME
The morning light will wake you up with a kiss and the evening sun will send you off into the evening as it baths the internal wall that divides the two forms.
The studio brought to the table the belief that to make good design it is to be affordable, responsive to climate, as well as integrated to the landscape. We referenced vernacular architecture and the solar orientation. The layout of the floor plan is based on the rotation of the sun. The morning light will wake you up in the morning and the evening sun will kiss you off into the evening. Wanting to have a structure that has limited materials applied and high thermal resistance to heat loss. We used the new technology but in a low technology application. Accessible tools, accessible labor, and minimal materials. It allowed us to reduce the material needed and construction timeline. A prototype was printed that validated such theories.
